What it needs
Three single doors or a wide and a single.
The door layout decides the headers and the frost footing. The longer the wall, the more the frame carries.
02Foundation
Over 600 sq ft the footing goes to frost.
Both plans are larger than the 600 sq ft that the code exempts from the frost-depth footing, so each draws a footing and a frost wall, 36 in and 36 in down. Your building department gives the frost depth that counts.
03Snow and wind
Every check runs at your loads.
These starting plans are drawn for 30 psf of ground snow, 115 mph of wind and a 36 in frost line. Change the snow, the wind or the frost line in the designer and the headers, the studs, the trusses and the footing follow. Above 70 psf of ground snow the roof needs an engineer, and the designer says so.

Each row is the starting plan as drawn, for 30 psf of ground snow, 115 mph of wind and a 36 in frost line. Materials are rounded: shelf prices plus the estimated trusses and concrete, before sales tax, delivery, labor and site work. Each plan page keeps the shelf prices, the estimate and the exact sum apart. Labor is the published range for hiring it out, a broad reference and not a quote; build time is total labor hours. Passed means the preliminary checks passed for those loads; local approval is not checked.

Questions about 3 car garage plans
As drawn, the 24x36 comes to about $19,400 in materials and the 30x40 to about $23,200, excluded: sales tax, delivery, permits, site work and excavation, engineering, electrical, door openers, paint and equipment rental. Hiring it out adds a broad $17,280 to $43,200 for the 24x36, a reference from published price guides and not a quote.
Our two start at 24x36 (864 sq ft) with three 9 ft doors and 30x40 (1,200 sq ft) with a wider door and room for a bench. Size it by the widest vehicle and the space to open its doors; the designer checks the doors and the headers, not the parking.
Our 30x40 plan is drawn for three cars: a 16' x 7' door and a second door on the long wall, with a workbench along the back wall when you use it as a shop. The floor is 1,200 sq ft; how the cars fit depends on your vehicles.
